About Muralika The Label
Muralika The Label is an Indian label for handloom sarees, founded by Priya Bhatia, a Chartered Accountant.
Why we started
Priya started Muralika with two goals: to support India's handloom artisans, and to use the label's profits to sponsor the education of underprivileged children. Every saree you buy helps with both.
Who weaves our sarees
Our handloom sarees are woven by local artisans in small towns of Bengal. Steady orders encourage these weavers to keep their craft going. Because each saree is made on a hand loom, you may notice small irregularities in the weave. They are the mark of handwork, not a defect.
What we make
- Handloom tissue sarees: 6.5 m including the blouse piece, 47 inches wide.
- Mulmul cotton sarees: pure cotton, handwoven, 5.5 m, in hand-embroidered and hand-painted designs.
- Handloom cotton sarees: certified organic cotton, 5.5 m with a separate 1 m blouse piece.
- Ajrakh sarees: modal silk, hand block printed.
- Leheriya sarees.
